Mumbai, Aug 23: Konkani Bhasha Mandal – Maharashtra, the oldest Konkani organization in the metro organized the celebrations of Konkani Manyata Divas at Karnataka Sangh auditorium, Matunga, here on Saturday August 21.

Metro’s renowned lawyer Pius Vas was the chief guest. Chintamani V Nadkarni, chief executive officer of North Kanara G S B Co-operative Bank was the guest of honour.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of various sports competitions and scholarships to talented students on the occasion. Sacred Heart parish here bagged the rolling shield this year, which was presented to Victor Concesso, on behalf of the participants.

Ainsh Mathias staged a dance sequence of prayer and Dolphy Menezes Kallianpur and Naveen Kulshekar entertained the gathering with jokes. ‘Vante’ Goan skit by playwright Rio Rozar was staged besides ‘Vastrayan Ki Titkayan’ by playwright Vasudha Prabhu as part of the entertainment programme. Kenny enthralled the gathering with solo dance.

Konkani Bhasha Mandal – Maharastra president P V Shanbagh welcomed the gathering.  Executive president J B Moraes briefed on the significance of Konkani Manyata Divas. Vice-president John D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks. Honorary secretary Lawrence D’Souza Kamani compered the programme.

    Very good coverage except the fact that General Secretary Lawrence Desouza Kamani who compered the programme in not seen in any of the photos.Probably he was moving a lot to ensure that everything is done as per schedule.
