Shekhar Bangera was one of my favourite goalkeepers along with Sudhir and Brahmanand (both from Goa) Bhasker Ganguly (Bengal) and Sunderesan (Karnataka). He along with his team mates Bernard, Arthur Pereira, Srinivas Salian and others representing Orkay Mills, Mumbai had come for an exhibition match in Mysore. He was a great foot baller and was followed by many in India. May his soul rest in peace and God comfort the bereaving family.

Felt terribly sad about untimely demise of former India's star football player/Goalkeeper/Captain. Heartfelt condolences to his family members. Literally shocked to read that we do had in our Midst a star player of Yesteryears. In a digital world how come most of us were not aware about this gentle giant of a sportsman, was living in our neighborhood. Hard to believe but fact of the matter is probably no government organization came forward to highlight his football journey! I salute Shekher Bangera for your love for the game & played it to the highest level. R. I. P. Sir,

One of the finest goalkeepers India has ever produced along with Brahmanand & Bhaskar Ganguly..... Shekhar, Bernard Pereira, Prakash Shetty , Chathunni were the star players of Mumbai based Orkay Mills Limited, Mumbai in the 70s.....In our younger days, there used to be a football tournament named 'Sait Nagjee Rolling Trophy' where all major Indian football clubs used to participate..... We were fortunate enough to watch him in play every year in the 70s..... Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Shekhar :( :( :(

SOCCER is a world top ranking game! GOALKEEPER was an very efficient player so also very prestigious position to the team/respective country. Many of us do not know till date such a hidden Gem living in Coastal region of Karnataka! If he was belongs to the other states of India, he was a shining star Like Tendulkar, PT Usha, Vishwanathan Anand.... so on. Even reputed Indian companies were failed to sponsor to this noble soul. God alone know his situation which is unacceptable!! That's it. May his soul rest in peace (Om..Shanthi). Heart felt condolences to the bereaved family and friends.
