Must vaccinate 90 lac daily to flatten Covid curve by July end: Experts

New Delhi, Jun 18 (IANS): The country's Covid curve can be flattened by July end if the government is able to vaccinate a whopping 90-lac people a day, said healthcare expert at a webinar.

The webinar held on Thursday was hosted by MeraDoc, a personalised healthcare platform that connects highly experienced health practitioners with people.

"We invited the second wave and if we were to repeat the same, then God help us! With a near double mortality versus the first, the second was a shocker," Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman and MD, Medanta Hospital.

"If we were to beat the virus, then we need to not only follow Covid appropriate behaviour, but also look at the way vaccines are rolled out.

"If starting July 1, we are able to administer 50 lac vaccines a day then we can reduce the virus impact by 25 per cent and by 50 per cent if this is scaled up to 70 lac by mid-July. We may even flatten the curve if we are able to vaccinate about 90-lac people in a day by the end of the month," Trehan said.

Meanwhile, early this month, the government has said that there will be enough doses by mid-July or August to vaccinate one crore people per day.

"We are confident of vaccinating the whole population by December," Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director General Balram Bhargava had said.

Currently, the country is facing a vaccine shortage causing a delay in the nationwide vaccination programme.

The Health Ministry on Friday said that a total of 26,89,60,399 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 32,59,003 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.

The experts at the webinar also spoke about the preparedness for the impending third wave and the vaccines/drugs and severity of Covid due to comorbidities like diabetes and heart disease.

"The more comorbidities you have, the more severe will be the outcome of Covid infection, so vaccination and precautions like masking, social distancing and following the advice of your doctor is important," said Dr Ambrish Mithal, Chairman, Head of Endocrinology & Diabetes, Max Healthcare.

"People with diabetes must go for vaccination and the level of sugar at that point does not make much difference to the efficacy of the vaccine," he added.

Trehan also advocated for monoclonal antibody therapy -- a cocktail of casirivimab and imdevimab -- that was recently launched in India.

Trehan said it is an effective weapon for treatment of mild to moderate Covid in patients.

"Monoclonal antibody therapy is effective against variants when given in the first seven days and has the potential to reduce hospitalisation by nearly 70-80 per cent," he noted.

The webinar was held in association with IPE Global, MSOSA, Heart Care Foundation of India (Dr KK Aggarwal Research Fund) and LSE (London School of Economics) Alumni Association.

In the US people are vaccinated annually against the Flu. I have never heard of such a thing in India. Also, see Steve Kirsch write up – Should you get vaccinated on trialsitenews.com and Spike protein is very dangerous, it's cytotoxic - interview of Robert Malone(one of the inventors of mRNA vaccine) &, Steve Kirsch by Bret Weinstein. So, obviously, imagine if they (the "experts") can stir up enough hysteria and fear to make people, all over the world, believe that they would die without a COVID vaccine taken at least twice annually. Imagine the business turn over that can be guaranteed by their cronies in govt.! This is what is called crony capitalism(disguised in the garb of socialism) and is not based on a free market system, where demand dictates supply. Then there are the people who believe that the govt. will give it "free", as if the govt. does not have to pay for it. And, from where will the govt. get the money? obviously from taxing the people or taking loans and further sinking the country into the depths of debt which will make everything more costly. Govt's typically rob from Peter to pay Paul and then rob from Paul to pay Peter. The smart ones like Anil Ambani and others declare that they are paupers and never pay back their loans. So who is left to bear this burden ? - none other than the poor guys who thought they were getting everything "free". Then in the next election the slogan will continue to be “roti, kapda aur makaan”. 74 years and the slogan never changes to life of dignity, respect, freedom, liberty, equality of opportunity and rule of law!

All doctors have donned experts hats these days. These doctors haven't touched a single cold and fever patients but give loud opinion about the present epidemic which is nothing but seasonal flu or cold virus infections. Doctor Raju has been treating 200 patients daily without any barriers in between him and his patients. All are getting healed. Those who went to hospitals are among the most hard hit health wise and finance wise. Dr Biswaroop's Flu Diet is healing people without any medicines in open air camps where patients are treated with love and discarding fear causing protocols without any medicines etc. Time has come to embrace these alternatives which help the body heal itself than the WHO and ICMR created protocols that are causing more deaths compared to natural methods deployed by the above. Herd immunity only is capable of stopping epidemics by natural infections and artificial immune boosters have failed against mutating viruses like corona till today. Stop RTPCR tests and end the fake pandemic sooner.
