Mangalore, Sep 4: Belying the predictions of the weathermen about heavy rains, the coast remained dry for most part of the day on Friday September 3. Occasional rains that lasted only for a few minutes, were experienced in Karnataka coast on Friday.

Agumbe in Shimoga district recorded five cms of rain, the highest in the state. Subrahmanya in Sullia taluk was the other place where the rainfall was heavier as compared to other places. The average rainfall received in the coastal districts was between one and two cms.

The state meteorological department has predicted heavy rains at isolated places on the coast during the next two days.
