Panaji, Jul 9: The procurement of land for double-tracking of the Kulem-Margao railway line was approved by the state cabinet on Wednesday July 7.
In addition, CM Sawant also announced ex-gratia of Rs two lac to the families of victims who died of Covid. However, this scheme is only for those whose family income is less than Rs eight lac per year and residents of Goa for at least 15 years.
The monthly rent of internet service providers was reduced to 10 percent by the cabinet in the wake of weak mobile connectivity in rural areas. Sawant said that instead of the present Rs 50,000 per month, companies that will set up mobile towers in rural areas have to pay just Rs 5,000 to the government for the first five years. Recently opposition parties took the ruling BJP to task over the matter of poor connectivity due to which students of rural areas were facing issues in attending online classes.
Rs 5,000 compensation will be given to around 30,000 beneficiaries in the state who have faced loss in business due to Covid-19. The beneficiaries include pilots (two-wheeler taxi operators) and autorickshaw owners cum drivers.
