Udupi, Jul 12: Kattige Muhurta, third of the pre-rituals of Paryaya of Krishnapura Math, which will be held on January 18, 2022, was held on the morning of Sunday July 11.
This programme was held in the northeast part of Madhwa Sarovar of Sri Krishna Math. Earlier, special puja, prayers and Navagraha puja were offered to Gods Kaliyamardhana Krishna and Narasimha who are the resident deities of Krishnapura Math. Later, the Kattige (wood) was carried on the head and the darshan of Lord Chandreshwara, Lord Ananteshwara and Madhwacharya was done. The Kattige was kept in the north-east part of the pond and puja was offered. Religious scholars of eight maths were honoured and Navagraha Daana was offered.
K Srinivasa Upadhyaya conducted the religious rituals.
In the stage programme that was held after the completion of the religious ritual, giving his blessings, Paryaya designate Krishnapur Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Sripada said, “In Krishna Math, the puja method that is taught by Sri Vadiraja is unique. God is venerated not only in the sanctum sanctorum but also in every Adhistana. In the olden days, people did not have any work to do during the monsoon. For the benefit of those, a wooden chariot is constructed many months prior to the Paryaya. There was a tradition of giving One Seru (quart) of rice for one bundle of wood.”
Temple priests of Kateel Sri Durgaprameshwari temple Ananthapadmanabha Asranna, Harinarayanadasa Asranna and Kamaladeviprasada Asranna, former state president of KaSaPa Dharmadharshi Harikrishna Punaroor, entrepreneur of Moodbidri K Sripathi Bhat, president of Dakshina Kannada KaSaPa Pradip Kumar Kalkura, member of Dakshina Kannada district religious parishat Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, Bhaskara Rao Kidiyoor, Diwan of Shiroor Math Udayakumar Saralathaya, Krishna Acharya and Haridas Upadhyaya were present.
