Mangaluru, Jul 15: Canara Lighting is proud to have been part of a select group of companies chosen to make prime minister Narendra Modi's vision of an international convention centre at Varanasi come true.
Prime minister Narendra Modi on July 15 inaugurated the International Cooperation and Convention Centre — ‘RUDRAKSH’. The two-storey convention centre, which has a seating capacity of 1,200 was built with the assistance of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Canara Lighting successfully designed, manufactured and installed the highly complex stage lighting system for RUDRAKSH Convention Centre to the standards set by the Japanese consultant.
The ‘RUDRAKSH’ Convention Centre was designed to host all types of international conventions, concerts and exhibitions. It also offers a glimpse of the cultural richness of the ancient city of Kashi. 108 Rudraksha have been installed in the convention centre. The roof of the building has been constructed to resemble, Shiva Linga. Its gallery showcases Varanasi’s distinct culture and heritage, with murals depicting its art and music.
‘RUDRAKSH’ was built keeping the environment in mind, and will be fit for Level 3 of Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA).
Apart from a collaboration between India and Japan, the objective of the project is also to provide opportunities for cultural interactions between people.
