Bengaluru, Jul 28: Hours after being sworn in as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka, the new boss of the State Government Basavaraj Bommai spelled out the priorities of his administration when he asked the bureaucracy to provide a trust-worthy, responsible, transparent and efficient governance to respond to the problems of the State and its people in a team spirit.

Bommai arrived at Vidhana Soudha, the seat of power of the State Government, and touched his forehead to the steps of the stone building built by Kengal Hanumanthaiah and offered special prayers and puja before entering his office on the third floor to sign official papers as the new Chief Minister.

The new Chief Minister held an hour-long meeting with senior officials in Vidhana Soudha along with Chief Secretary P Ravikumar in the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha, and addressed the officials pointing out that the government administration was a continuous process and must be functional in all circumstances.

“I have decided to provide an efficient, honest and pro-people administration,’’ he said sought the cooperation of the Secretariat staff and officers as he was fully aware of the difficulties and pitfalls.

Doing some plain-speaking from the heart, the new Chief Minister said Karnataka has the reputation for providing result-oriented and efficient administration over the years, which must he continued unaffected by any developments. "All the decisions of the State Cabinet must be implemented in a time-bound manner as delays lead to corruption,’’ he said.

“Delays in administrative decisions and their implementation is like a cancer,’’ he said asking the officials to ensure that the decisions of the government must be implemented in a time-bound manner.

Bommai said all officers must ensure that the activities of all departments and their rules and regulations must be followed. “Don’t hesitate in doing good work or worry about consequences. Government will always support bona-fide decisions done with good intentions,’’ he said.

5% reduction in wasteful expenditure in all Departments

One of the first task underlined by Bommai was reducing unnecessary wasteful expenditure in all departments by 5% before the end of the year.

The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary to issue specific and detailed guidelines in reducing wasteful expenditure.

Covid control and tackling the flood situation with relief and rehabilitation of the victims must be the priority of the administration, he said.

Time-bound implementation of all government programmes and decisions in true team spirit must be accorded importance by all officers, he said asking all Departments to work in coordination.

“A detailed guidelines will be issued soon after holding detailed discussion,’’ he said.

The Chief Minister suggested that points will be awarded to all departments based on the assessment of their performance as part of the plans to streamline and encourage efficiency and producing results.

Chief Secretary P Ravikumar assured the Chief Minister that the administration will live up to the expectations of the Chief Minister.

Good leader, Good CM. Karnataka now has turned into a Badra Kote of BJP. The party knew that Yeddi uncle was old and a bit tainted as well. So he was politely asked to leave. Its going to be a uphill task from now on for Congress. With daily infights between DKS and Siddu to become the future CM. With no support even in their own constituencies . No youngsters to take the party forward. Traditional muslim vote bank depleting due to SDPI and other regional parties. Congress future looks bleak.

Better stop all wasteful expenditure like full page advertisements on papers, TV, roadside and govt busses carrying hoardings and curb unnecessary travels of MLA s wasting money and fuel of vehicles to have jollyrides with our tax money. And stop fake tests which has been derecognised by US FDA which had withdrawn its emergency use authorization. End coercive illegal vaccine mandates too.

Really happy with BJPs choice as CM. Well done. We have a qualified and experienced person to lead Karnataka. BJP must give him free hand and a long tenure. We wish him good luck to change the image of the state and bring in the required development.
