Doha, Sep 19: Mangalore Cultural Association, Doha Qatar, Celebrated “Monti Fest” and Noven Jeevan on Friday the 17th of September 2010, at the Seraphic Hall, Church Premises.

The Program began with the MCA Anthem followed with a prayer service which included Showering of Flowers. Roce was distributed to all guests present in the hall. Chief Guests for the evening Rev. Fr, Anand Castelino, Spiritual Director of Konkani Speaking Community of Qatar Parish, All the Advisory committee members were escorted to the Dias by Harry Lobo, President of MCA. He also welcomed all the guests on Stage with flowers. Benjamin Rebeiro, General Secretary of MCA welcomed all gathered. Felix Lobo, Advisory committee member of MCA spoke a few words on the past 2 and a half years of MCA’s existence. He highlighted the fact that just in that small period, MCA ‘s achievement has been remarkable. A lot of poor students, orphans and some families in need of Medical aid had benefited from this association. Lobo promised that this good work will continue and urged the support of the Mangaloreans.

Fr. Anand expressed his happiness of being present for the program. He stressed that we all Konkans are members of the same family, we have to be one and not differentiate our self with barriers.


























































Wilfred Fernandes, Advisory Committee member spoke about the fact that MCA has started to gain popularity even in the remote villages of Mangalore were Children have been supported in their  studies.

The preparations for the Semifinals of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore was then officially inaugurated.  Veena Rebimbus Pais Local coordinator of Gulf Voice of Mangalore, gave a brief report of the GVOM semifinals preparations. She said that GVOM is not only an entertainment program but it is an International platform for the upcoming singers of our community.  On this occasion the allotted songs for the semifinals were handed over to all the 12 participants by the Chief Guest Fr. Anand Castelino.

The cultural program started with a dance by Jonita Pinto. She dance for the tunes of “Aaz Tumi Fulanakath” by Wilfy Rebimbus, which was well appreciated by the crowd. The main Highlight of the evening was the Comedy Skit “ Beshtis Gadbad” written by Dolla Mangalore, directed by Alfred Cyril Crasta Qatar and enacted by MCA Kalaakar- Donald Lobo, Benjamin Rebeiro, Dorothy Quadros, Wilma D’Souza, James Lobo, Wilson Mendonca and Clement Saldanha. High energetic performance and the spontaneous dialogue delivery of the Actors left the crowd spell bound.

Another Comedy skit “All Round Police Station” was enacted  by Benjamin Rebeiro, James Lobo and Wilson Mendonca. A crowd of over  300 people enjoyed the delicious homemade food of 7 different varities of Vegetables along with Vorn and Roce  and tasted the true Mangalorean  flavor. Games  was conducted by Aloysius D’Souza, Prayer was conducted by Sangeetha Braggs, MCA treasurer Clement Saldanha thanked everyone responsible for the success of the celebration. Arthur Pais was the MC for the evening.

Delicious Roce was prepared by Stephany Lobo, whose was also the main hand in the cooking of all the 7 Vegetable items with the help of the Executive committee members and some MCA members.  Like always MCA kept up on maintaining the time and overall it was a well organized program which was appreciated by one and all of the Mangaloreans gathered in the Seraphic hall.
