Mangaluru, Aug 4: The Covid-19 pandemic has caused havoc to humanity. The healthcare has become the top of the agenda of all organisations. People are aspiring to lead a healthy life. This will not happen so easily unless we plan for it. The commitment of the NAAC A+ grade Nitte (Deemed to be University) is really landable in this direction. As a part of its commitment to Nitte Smart health village project 'Apathbandhu', a training program of rural volunteers in first aid and emergency care and the release of 'Coviswas', Nitte Covid-19 home isolation app was organised by Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences and Nitte Deemed to be University, MEDISIM and Department of Public Health, KSHEMA on August 4 and 5.
The chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), N Vinay Hegde said that 'Healthcare related issues should be viewed holistically and providing health for all is the need of the hour. It is most essential that, we need to educate the localities about their healthcare. This calls for selfless service, dedication, concern and genuine love for the cause of humanity.
The vice chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University) Dr Satish Kumar Bhandary said most of the health related problems are the outcome of negligence and lack of awareness. The 'Apathbandhu' is a new initiative in the sense that the University has come forward with the idea of training the rural volunteers in first aid and emergency care' he added.
The tool kit of training was distributed to the trainees by the chancellor N Vinay Hegde. He also released the Coviswas, Nitte covid-19 home isolation app.
Professor and head of the Department of Public Health, KSHEMA Dr Macwin D'Mello briefed about the app. Dr Fatima DeSilva, principal of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Science spoke about 'Apathbandhu' application.
Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, principal, NMAMIT, and the director of Justice KS Institute of Management Dr Shankarn spoke on the occasion.
Dr A P Achar, CEO of Atal Incubation Centre welcomed the guest and briefed about the programme. Dr Sudhir Raj K, professor, Justice KS Hegde Institute of Management compered the programme. Dr Shripad G Mehandale, head, department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, KSHEMA, proposed the vote of thanks.
