'Major Communities Garner Lion's Share in BJP Ministry’

Bangalore, Sep 25, (PTI): The BJP ministry, led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has thrown the principles of social justice to the wind in the cabinet reshuffle as majority communities have garnered the lion's share,a senior Congress leader alleged.

"Yeddyurappa has given the go by to merit, regional representation and social justice while recasting his ministry," former opposition Congress leader in the Legislative Council V S Ugrappa alleged in a statement here.

In the September 22 reshuffle which saw inductin of six ministers, only 18 of 30 districts have representation, while 12 have none, leading to regional imbalance, he said.

Among Karnataka's total population, Backward Classes constitute 27 per cent, SCs 17 per cent, Lingayats 16 per cent, 14 per cent minorities, ten per cent Vokkaligas, 6.6 STs and 3.8 per cent Brahmins, he said.

In contrast to the population ratio, the ministry has 11 members belonging to Lingayats, six from Scheduled Caste, five Vokkaligas, four Brhamins, four from backward classes, two from ST section and two belonging to minority community.

There is an imabalance in allotment of portfolios too as major departments which spend crores of rupees on Finance, Major Irrigation, PWD and Rural Development are concentrated at the hands of lingayat ministers, he alleged.

Minor portfolios like Animal Husbandry, Textiles, Library have been given to ministers representing Dalit sections, he pointed out.

"Fertile fortfolios are held by powerful communities and the insignificant by BCs and other exploited sections", he charged.

Ugrappa or Siddaramaiah or C M Ibrahim or Kharge or Srinivas Prasad alone can not bring change. Each Ahinda voters should think like Ugrappa and consolidate their position to change this social inequivality or imbalance. If your own people vote for money, you can not change this situation and you have to assimilate and live as a slave.

Deve Gowda won so many seats in the previous election by projecting Siddaramaiah as CM candidate. But what he did for Siddaramaiah after getting a chance to rule the state? He made his son Kumaraswamy as CM by making a big drama. Because of his drama, BJP is ruling this state and creating all such imbalances as alleged by Ugrappa. Thus Deve Gowda and sons betrayed backward classes, SC/STs and minorities. There is no unity among Ahinda voters and till some of the leaders of these sections are supporting the devil Deve Gowda who is responsible for bringing the BJP into power in Karnataka.

As caste is very important in Karnataka politics, the majority should become agressive like in UP and Bihar politics to remove these imbalances.

As long as SC/STs, minorities and backwards vote for money, they will not see their person in CM gaddi. Ugrappa should concentrate in consolidating these sections instead lamenting. Only education among these sections will bring change and until then you will be ruled by minorites like Brahmins, Lingayats and Vokkaligas and no choice.

From few comments I could understand that BJP is a party of Lingayats and Brahmins. The Ahinda people should read these comments and learn from them. Upparas and Muslims who voted for JD(S) in Kadur election shoud read these comments. The people constituting 17% can have 42% of representation in the state ministry but Ahinda people who constitute about 70% can hold only 38% representation in the ministry that too less significant ministries. It is very sad and injustice to Ahinda communities.

As long as these Ahinda voters are not united these people going to accumulate wealth and loot the state wealth. Lingayats, Vokkaligas and Brahmins have been ruling this state taking advantage of the differences among Ahinda voters. To change this state of affair, I give a call to all Ahinda voters be united and vote only Ahinda candidates.

In 1950s to 1970s Brahmins and so called upper castes were dominating Congress party. Then there was no coruption and misrule like nowadays.Later Congress was gained momentum due to the polarisation of votes on cast line and all non sense ruling started and corruption was not only started but institutionised. Then Jan Sangh was though dominated by mainly by Bramins and upper castes but was in microscopic minority. Later BJP the new avatar of Jan Sangh come in to existance on the plank of principle based politics which is now just like Congress that was in later 1970s which is worst than then Congress party now.

It is a known fact that in BJP, only the upper cast persons can call for shots and lower cast is only used as a vote bank. BJP’s mantra of polarization of votes based on religion is only for this purpose and otherwise it is difficult to bring the lower cast Hindus under the leadership of upper cast Hindus. People are slowly understanding this reality and the time is not very far when this pseudo nationalist party will be taught a lesson by the people.

Having said that I am against any caste system and people are to be given responsible positions based on their capability. Present formula which is being adopted by BJP of suppressing the lower caste is a dangerous trend and bring further division in the already divided society.

It is not possible for any party in power to form the Govt. on the basis of cast, religion and language basis.Further leader like Ugrappa should not vent his opinion on such sensitive matter.Tomorrow he may have to eat his own pie.

Well the backbone of BJP is Lingayats and Brahmin community. The fact this combination 19% and 6% concentrate in specific areas make them very powerful electorally and this pays rich dividents for party that gets their votes. For ex brahmins may comprise 5 to 6% but they are concentrated in blore, mysore, coastal karntaka, shivamoga, Hubli dwd and can influence atleast 70 seats makes them powerfull.

It is a myth that if there are more backward caste ministers, those communities will be better off.

We had Janardhana Poojary, Veerappa Moily as biggies in govt when Congress was ruling. What good they did do for backward communities then?

Ministers should be selected on merit than caste (dominant or weak)

As our constitution allows any citizen, irrespective of the qualification to contest the election,&since majority of the voters are NOT qualified, it is quite natural that major number of elected people bound to be NOT qualified.Mr William has strong Maths knowledge & he can clear your confusion with his theory

I think castewise ditribution of ministry is foolishness, lets talk about their ability in handling the portfolio. As such minorities dont vote for the BJP government, why grumble when it comes to governence, how many contested / elected minorities are in BJP?? Lets try to voice for strenthening the Lokayuktha, lets put pressure on the government for forcing the ouster of corrupt officals, ministers.I think its high time for Lokayuktha to the charged officers list for the past years(year by year) & then make the public aware of their current status, which will help cornering the government for answring the measures taken. Lets ,as public start demanding the action on corruption. As long as we talk & forget,Every government will take advantage & keep doing malpractices.

Congratulations Mr.CM. Your mathematics and equations cannot be solved by my IBM computer. 10% gets 14.70% representation, so also,17% gets 17.60%, 16% gets 32.40%, and mere less than 3.80% of Brahmin population you have given 11.80% of representation. Tell every one which school of thought you have studied and tell us which book of social justice these equation are metioned in. My Lord Basavanna I bowdown to your teachings and social reforms. Enlighten my super CM.

As Ugrappa has correctly said. If you are a Lingayat or Vokkaliga, you can easily become minister in BJP ministry and you do not require any merit or qualification is required and your caste qualification is alone is enough to become a minister. Any one of these two community members only has been occupying the CM seat in the state since independence barring few like Devaraj Urs. If Ahinda people votes for money, this will continue and no one help for this status and themselves to be blamed for that. People like Ugrappa will have to cry with vain.
