Dammam, Jun 26: A social media campaign demanding a dedicated ministry for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), specifically under the hashtag '#NRIMinistry', has gained massive traction on X (formerly Twitter), trending at the number one spot in India and the Gulf region. The campaign highlights the growing demand for a separate ministry or a special division to address the grievances and requirements of Karnataka NRIs under a single platform.
A meeting in support of this campaign was recently held at the Royal Malabar Hotel in Dammam.

Addressing the gathering, vice president Satish Kumar Bajal briefed the attendees about the recent discussions held with deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar in Bengaluru and the assurances given by him. He noted that the NRI Kannadigas present during the meeting expressed their happiness and appreciation towards the Karnataka government's positive response.
The campaign was primarily organised to urge the state government to expedite the operationalization of the NRI Kannadiga ministry, following the recent announcement made by deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar regarding its establishment.
The participants emphasised the necessity of a dedicated system to provide legal assistance, investment guidance, resolution of document-related issues, and the proper implementation of welfare schemes for Karnataka NRIs residing in Saudi Arabia. Supported by thousands of Kannadigas on social media, the campaign surpassed expectations and achieved overwhelming success.
"This campaign trending at number one in India showcases our unity and the strength of our demand. We are confident that D K Shivakumar will soon bring the NRI Kannadiga ministry into reality," the leaders expressed, sharing their optimism regarding the representation and resolution of issues faced by the overseas Indian community.
Umar Farooq Mulki, Ayaz Kaikamba, Anwar, Gopal Shetty, Sherif Karkala, Kabir Lucky Star, Pushparaj, and several others were present on the occasion.
