Aug 25: DK reports 217 corona cases, Udupi adds 130; nine deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 25: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, Aug 25 reported 217 new coronavirus cases and six deaths, while Udupi registered 130 new cases and three deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 14,86,390 samples have been tested so far, out of which 13,77,707 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,08,683 out of which 2,780 are currently active.

As many as 321 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

The district recorded six deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,548.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,04,31,420 as fine in 85,769 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 9,15,475 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 130 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 73,185 out of which 1,586 are currently active.

A total of 132 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Out of 130 new patients,104 are in home isolation while 26 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 130 cases, as many as 80 are symptomatic and 50 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 73 new cases, Kundapur registered 22 and Karkala 35.

Coronavirus has claimed 445 lives in the district so far, including three on Wednesday. The person’s who died on Wednesday were from Udupi, Karkala and Kundapura each.

So far, 6,25,086 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,36,877 have received the second dose.

A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 3 are currently active.

    I request with DC that the Apron which is using in saloon must dispose of in front of customers only. They use the same to all other customers. I request Daijiworld to forward my comment to DC and Health Department. Otherwise very difficult to control Corona virus. There may be other reasons also. But control Saloon, and Gym.

    Along with above please include CITY BUSES in peak hours, no social distence, jam pack. DC please consider all points otherwise 3rd wave will be worst I Mangalore.
