Mangaluru, Aug 30: In a tragic incident that occurred at Jokatte in the city, a youth, who tried to rescue a doeling from coming under the train, lost both his legs as the train passed over his limbs.

Chethan Kumar is the unfortunate youth who lost his legs in the incident. Chethan noticed a doeling running along the railway track as the train was approaching. He quickly ran to lift the doeling up from the track in order to save its life. However, the train had reached the spot by then and passed over both his legs.

Chethan, who was seriously injured, was admitted to a private hospital in the city. Doctors who did the initial check-up promised that one leg can be used in future.

However, Chethan, who is the lone bread winner of his family, is distraught.

Very sad news. However, he shown humanity in trying to save doeling. His intention was to save it. Govt should award him for his kind heart and take care of him. He should be given Govt job which will help him to take care of his family. He should be given best medical treatment and all the expenses should be borne by Govt. I urge DC to look in to the matter and see that all arrangements will be done in good manner.

one needs to be alert at all the times in order to assess the risk involved in any act. Though the intention of the youth was noble, the act itself was risky and foolish..I think emotions blinded him and he took the risk.. hope the youth gets at least one leg back as promised by doctors.. i strongly advise others not to get into such act by putting your life into risk..
