No Evidence Yet against Mumbai Attack Suspect Lakhvi - Counsel

Islamabad, Oct 5 (IANS) Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has not been able to provide concrete evidence against Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, who is accused of masterminding the Mumbai terror attack, his counsel has said.

Shahbaz Ahmed Janjua told reporters in Rawalpindi Monday that the FIA had failed to furnish concrete evidence against Lakhvi despite a lapse of two years.

Lakhvi is one of the founding members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Daily Times quoted Janjua as saying that the FIA had neither handed over the statements of the Indian doctors who prepared the medico-legal report of those killed in the Mumbai attacks nor presented a record of those people who were arrested in India.

The 60-hour audacious Mumbai attack that began on the night of Nov 26, 2008 and went on till the afternoon of Nov 29, 2009, killing 166 people, was carried out by 10 Pakistani terrorists, including Ajmal Amir Kasab.
