Daijiworld Media Network - Shivamogga (SP)

Shivamogga, Sep 11: Education minister B C Nagesh, observing that the children have remained away from schools for 18 months, informed that a bridge course is contemplated. "As cutting of syllabus again this year will create problems for the children in future, and as the completion of the entire syllabus goes to benefit the children, we have planned the bridge course," he said. He hastened to add that no decision has so far been taken on these things.

Speaking to media persons here, he also said that there is a proposal to cut down on teachers' holidays so that the syllabus can be completed. "Nothing has been discussed. On the basis of the response and support received from teachers for these proposals, we will take a decision if necessary," he said. To a demand for reducing the syllabus, he just said that effort will be made in that direction.

He said he is happy the way the teachers have handled the reopening of sixth to eighth standards. "Technical committee is meeting soon. After discussing the issue with the committee, and if the committee clears the proposal, we will reopen first to fifth standards too," he stated.

The minister noted that Covid19 has been spreading its presence in Kerala while Udupi and Dakshina Kannada are able to control the spread.

"There is provision to suspend offline classes if Covid19 spreads further. Therefore, we will be watching the situation and making a suitable decision," he clarified.
