Mangaluru, Sep 29: As the corona positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada district is over one percent, the district administration has given permission for the cinema theatres, multiplexes, theatres and similar other places to function from October 1 onward subject to the condition that they will follow Covid-compliant measures and with 50 percent seating capacity. This was stated by the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr Rajendra K V.

The state government had allowed the cinema theatres and other such entities to function at 100 percent capacity wherever the positivity rate is less than one percent. But in Dakshina Kannada district, the daily cases of new infections have shown an appreciable decline but the positivity rate has not yet slid down below one percent. Therefore, this rule cannot be applied in the district.

In order to regulate the likely spread of corona cases during the festivals which are lined up shortly, after taking into account the current happenings in the district and towards effectively regulating the spread of the disease, the deputy commissioner has passed orders making certain additions and modifications to the restrictions and guidelines issued in this connection so far.

The night curfew will continue as it is. From September 25 onwards, the night curfew has been changed to 10 pm to 5 am. Only those who have been administered both the doses of the vaccine will have entry into the theatres, multiplexes and other such places. Pregnant women and senior citizens have been advised against visiting these places.

At the entry point, it is compulsory to do thermal screening. After each show, rest rooms, toilets and all other spots of these buildings have to be cleaned. Hand sanitizers have to be provided in the entry and exit points and other strategic points.

Pubs have been allowed to function from October 3 onward subject to following Covid-related conditions. As far as schools are concerned, the order already issued will continue to be applicable. Checking will be continued as it is at the check posts set up in the border area entry points from Kerala to Dakshina Kannada. The deputy commissioner said that stern steps will be initiated if the orders are violated.
