Sullia: Burning machine experiment to dispose of waste becomes successful

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Oct 2: A burning machine has been installed on experimental basis at Kalcharpe here with the aim of disposing of the garbage collected in this town by using modern technology. The experiment has been a success.

This ambitious project of the town panchayat is likely to provide a permanent relief to the long-pending problem of waste disposal. Under the scheme, waste is burnt by using a gasification machine. This machine is environment friendly and the gas and ashes which we get after disposing of waste can be recycled or reused.

The burning machine has been installed at a cost of about Rs 40 lac. The machine can burn 150 kg waste in an hour. Sulla town produced over a tonne of garbage every day. This waste can be burnt down in about eight hours. When the garbage is burnt, ashes mixed with water and gas is generated. 150 kg waste generates eight to ten kg ashes. The gas generated here can be used by collecting it. The ashes too can be separated and used to make bricks, construction activity and other purposes.

Sullia town panchayat president, Vinay Kumar Kandadka, said that once the machine starts operating to full capacity, the garbage disposal problem may be permanently addressed. He said due to this environment friendly pl project, the people of Kalcharpe will get rid of problems they were facing till now. He said that the project will become fully operational in about ten days.

Burning of any substance will produce carbon dioxide and other bi gases as per the infeed substance. Waste burning may produce more toxic by products as it contains every thing, plastic, battery cell, gaseous empty containers, diapers, sanitary pads ete ete. To burn this type of waste, additional fuel is required. Is it worth to burn the waste by using external fuel and spoiling atmosphere with harmful emission of gases? Think before. Take expert's opinion before wasting funds. What type of cheap external fuel is available?

Ok if it works. But what about the atmosphere??? Is there any smoke, bad smell, or heat in surrounding areas??? That is more important regarding this system, after spending around 40 lac, it should not go waste like garbage.
