Mangaluru, Oct 19: Two law student interns have filed complaints in the women's police station here, against special public prosecutor, K S N Rajesh of the Lokayukta division here, accusing him of sexual harassment and threat. A case has been registered against the advocate concerned.
City police commissioner, Shashi Kumar, speaking on the issue, said that two law students have given two separate complaints against the advocate and a case has been filed. One of the complaints relates to sexual harassment of a girl student who was under internship with the advocate, and the other pertains to leading a friend of the aggrieved lady in the guise of counselling and legal assistance, taking her to Maidan on the way where she was threatened and pressurized to issue statement that suits his interests.
The commissioner said that the investigation in such cases should be transparent. Being a serious case, the investigation has been entrusted to city south assistant commissioner of police, Ranjith, he stated. Relating to the same case, the advocate has filed a complaint in Urwa police station three days back, claiming that the girl has been blackmailing him for money, the commissioner stated.
An 11.55-minute conversation between the aggrieved lady and the advocate has become viral. The advocate can be heard in the audio saying that he had committed a mistake once, and seeking an apology. He also is heard urging her to come to his office for her internship. The girl on her part says she will never see his face again and that being the father of girls, he was wrong in doing what he did.
Rajesh has denied the allegations made by the girl, adding that no such incident had ever happened. "This is a well-planned conspiracy hatched against me by a number of people. The complainant visited my office three to four times after the day on which the incident reportedly happened. This is a plan involving two girls who want to extract money from me and to tarnish my image," he stated. He said he had complained to the Kadri police but they did not take any action.
