Bantwal, Nov 4: The Puttur Jilla unit of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) has condemned the incident in which a group of young men belonging to another faith had entered historically renowned Lord Karinjeshwar temple in the taluk with their footwear on, and thus meddled with the sanctity of the temple. The Vedike has set a deadline of three days for the arrest of the offenders.

This warning was given by Puttur Jilla Sampark Pramukh, Narasimha Mani, who addressed a press conference at Bantwal Press Club here on Wednesday November 3 evening. Mani warned the district administration that it will be directly responsible for any eventualities and adverse consequences which might arise on account of not making the arrests as above.

He said that the youngsters involved with the said act appeared to have been driven by the specific purpose of disturbing peace in the society by showing their perversion from the acts of moving around the outer precincts of the temple with their footwear on and then sharing their video in social websites. He said that a complaint in this respect has been made to Punjalkatte police station. He warned that if the concerned are not arrested within the next three days, the Vedike, joining hands with the Hindu community, will carry on strong measures of protests.

"Acts like these which are aimed at harming the sanctity of temples have been occurring now and then. We demand that the temples should be extended with protection. People should be barred from carrying out fun and behaving impertinently at places like Karinja and Narahari Parvata. There is a need to make the police outpost at Karinja more effective," he demanded. He said that the police and others have been told about the issue and asserted that the Vedike which is committed to protect the sanctity of temples does not allow unwanted activities to take place at such places. He asserted that the Hindu outfits are opposed to harming the holy nature of temples in the name of tourism and pointed out that activities of drinking, fun, frolic and such other entertainment activities have been witnessed regularly in the park next to Karinja temple. He asked the forest department to maintain the park in a better way and employ staff there or alternatively close down the park itself. "We will request senior forest department officials on this issue. In recent divine query conducted in the temple, it was revealed that the temple's sanctity had been compromised with," he said.

Puttur jilla president Jagadish Nettarakere, Bantwal taluk unit president Tirumalesh Bellur, leaders, Rajesh Bollukallu, Balakrohna Kalayi, Sharat, Naveen Vogga, Yogeesh Kumdel, Ravi Kempugudde and Sharmit were present.

Do these HJV members, representatives of Hindu religion, heard about BBMP having to do away with hundreds of pairs of slippers from the last rites venue of the late Puneeth Rajkumar ? Well, these slippers were not thrown away there, these are of those people who decided to walk away bearfoot. Why ? Because their good slippers were stolen by some other visitors, leaving behind their own worn out slippers. Look HJV or BD or whatever group you belong to, first spread awareness about not stealing others' footwear. God listens to a plea no matter how your are dressed.
