Mangaluru: Realizing problems of people, corporator arranges free transport

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 4: People living in Pachanady area in the city were facing extreme difficulties because of the ongoing railway overbridge work and concreting of the connecting road. They were faced with the need to walk for a few kilometres to catch the bus. Realising the difficulties of the citizens, the local corporator Sangeetha R Nayak, has arranged to provide free transportation to the people through vehicles by using the services of party workers. This arrangement has come in for praise.

Pachanady main road has been closed from October 10 for the above works. The people have been facing problems. The corporator, for the last 13 days, has been providing free transportation through five cars and a tempo traveller vehicle and thereby mitigated the hardships of the common people.

On one side, cab service is provided from Pachanady Devinagara to the main drain. On the other side, vehicles are provided from Vaidyanatha Nagar to Bondel church. In between where the works are going on, people have to cross on foot. The service is available from 6 to 12 pm and again from 3 pm to 9 pm.

From Monday, schools have started to be run full time. The owners of school buses have been requested to extend their trips up to Devinagara instead of Pachanady. This is convenient for the students. The bus which starts from Bondel MGC school at 3.35 pm goes till Devinagara hump.

An alternative route has also been developed to obviate problems faced by the people due to the said works. Two wheelers, three wheelers and light vehicles can take Manjalpaade-Bondel road that was asphalted six months back. Street lights are also available on this road.

Sangeetha Nayak said she is happy to have served the people in this way as it benefits poor people. She said that the facility will continue till the works are finished and vehicular traffic on the road resumes.

I don't think corporator has done anything great, as it's his/her responsibility to provide public transport facility for citizens. Infact corporator should make arrangement for a permanent, solution the already existing problem and not proud of it. Jai Hind, Jai Sri Ram.

Responsibility? Nothing great? Which part of the galaxy are you from? If every politician was responsible then why would we tarnish their image for not doing their duties? This person did her job of helping, arranging and facilitating. You see I wrote all three actions. That in itself is admirable. Whether she did it for points, votes, clapping of hands or for local, national or international recognition - it was done. Btw did you get the 15 lakhs cash or the Post dated cheque... Oh wait ... It does not come under responsibility and duties as speaking as a candidate while looking for votes can be construed as just chatter. Thankfully this corporator did not declare it in her manifesto of providing transportation when road works occur other wise the poor people would keep walking. May the Almighty bless you Mohit and I hope any Samaritan of any creed caste or religion helps you at a given point for then truly it is Jai Hind.

Usually when a big public work is to be done and here problems arise such as children going to school or no normal transport is not possible, that should be discussed or the one who gives permission for these works have to consent before .Not after work has started.Thats the regel .Anyway the Corporator has made later.Always they must look into this .Not close everything thinking people will do anyway.Corporator is responsible for it.

I have no idea which political party this corporator Sangeeta Nayak belongs to. Whichever party it is, she has done a fantastic job and needs to be applauded for this.

Prabhu maam, please note that govt is collecting a lot of money from lot of temples in the garb of muzrai department. The dasara lighting is a pittance.

Sir, Please note that this is money not from Temple. This is our hard earned money which we paid has Tax to MCC. If they spend for Dassara no problem, But they must spend for Festivals at Mosques and Churches. First of all spending our tax collected money is totally wrong.

Disappointed with your lack of encouragement Jossey. Not every thing is political or foot related. If an elected official for a certain section is doing some ethical and forthright for her constituents would a foot be needed only because of the party she represents? Let me say if someone is helping me or my family out of a hardship I would rather clap then kick them out.
