Mangaluru: Elocution competition held at Neermarga church

Mangaluru, Nov 17: Konkani and Kannada Elocution competition was organized by Catholic Sabha, Neermarga Unit for the parishioners on November 14 in the church hall.

The event commenced with an invocation.

With heart full of love and happiness Molly Saldanha, president-Catholic Sabha, welcomed the gathering and introduced the judges. As many as 26 bubbly enthusiastic children and youth participated in the competition. The participants showcased their flair for oration. They put their best foot forward to deliver their part and in turn gained a lot of intuitiveness on how to deliver their pieces with credence and self-composure.

Fr Anil Canute D Mello, parish priest expressed his deepest sentiments of gratitude and appreciation to the parents of the participants and the organizers for their initiative, constant encouragement and for preparing their wards in building positive self-image and gave a wake-up call to the competitors to seize all the opportunities that come their way with a smile on their faces.

Jaison Fernandes, Fermai and Sunitha D’Souza, Vamanjoor were the judges who evaluated each performer on the following criteria: 1. Content 2. Organization 3. Fluency and intonation 4. General Presentation.

“Participation will give you a training that will prove Invaluable later on in life”- The thought-provoking quote of Walter Annenberg was annotated by Jaison Fernandes with the help of concrete examples.

Prasad Vas, vice president, Catholic Sabha compered the programme, Anita D’Souza, deputy secretary announced the names of the prize winners and Fr Anil D’Mello, parish priest and Prakash Pereira, secretary, parish pastoral council gave away the prizes. Haibert Saldanha, secretary, Catholic Sabha proposed the vote of thanks.
