Udupi, Nov 18: “There are 11 Congress aspirants from undivided Dakshina Kannada for the MLC polls race. Congress may lose by a few votes against an opposition candidate. KPCC will select eligible and suitable candidates by analyzing them in all the points of view. The process has already started," said Ashok Kodavoor Congress district president Udupi.
He was speaking to media persons Udupi on Thursday, November 18, he further said, “The selection process is being taken up by the KPCC and Karnataka in–charge Ranajith Surjevala."
"Other aspirants also showed their interest to win in Congress. As I have noticed, SCDCC chairman, Dr Rajendra Kumar met KPCC president yesterday and urged Congress to give ticket. The high command may consider his request. He also worked in the Congress publicity (promotion) Committee earlier. Now he is active in cooperatives. There is no provision to contest two candidates from Congress. He has the chance to win the polls. If he contested independently for the election, the matter would be different. Our candidate may lose by few votes but it is not so difficult to cover up. If he contested from the Congress, he would get good support from the cooperatives. Apart from all these, the final decision will be taken by the high command’.
He was replying to the question about Pramod Madhwaraj about his recent statement wherein he appreciated Modi for selecting eligible names for the award, Ashok Kumar said, “May be it was just a random address. He mentioned all of a sudden while addressing in the occasion. Since he made the statement, I have not been able to get connection and moreover he is not in the town.
"BJP is taking this matter to another level to create confusion during election time. There were changes that may have happened in taking the decisions after the election. But he was recognized by the Congress as party leader. The same proceedings are continued with regard to selection. He also had given statements against Modi and the BJP government, earlier," said Ashok Kodavoor.
