Chennai, Nov 15 (IANS) Tasting victory with the resignation of Communications and IT Minister A.Raja over the 2G spectrum allotment scam, opposition parties in Tamil Nadu Sunday demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe.

Speaking to IANS, AIADMK's Deputy Parliamentary Leader V. Maitreyan said: "Raja's resignation is not an end, it is only a beginning. Cases should be registered against Raja under the Prevention of Corruption Act and a JPC probe should be conducted."

According to him, Raja's resignation is a victory for parliamentary democracy.

"It is a victory for the sustained crusade of AIADMK general secretary J.Jayalalithaa against the spectrum mega scam and probity in public life," he said.

Echoing similar views, Communist Party of India-Marxist MP T.K.Rangarajan said: "Raja's resignation is good and is a correct decision by the party. Raja says he is innocent but his innocence should be proved. There should be a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the spectrum scam. Government has to come out with proper answer."
