Karkala, Dec 8: Geetha (68), a resident of an apartment complex at Kuntalpady here, lost her life after she suffered from severe burns due to fire at her residence and treatments failed to save her life. Now, her daughter has expressed suspicion about the cause of her death.

Dhanashree Kudva, daughter of Geetha, lives with her husband in Moodbidri. She was a lecturer in a college. Her father, Surendra Kudva (70), lived with wife, Geetha, in the said apartment. On December 6, neighbours of Geetha called Dhanashree to inform her that her mother had suffered severe burn injuries. The neighbours admitted her into a hospital. Dhanshree rushed to Karkala and questioned her mother about the incident. Her mother had suffered burns all over her body. She was shifted from Karkala to Manipal hospital in a bid to save her life, but on December 7, she breathed her last.

Geetha

Dhanashree informed the police that she has doubts about the cause of her mother's death. She said she was told by the residents of other flats that even when her mother was covered by flames, her father did nothing but remained a mute spectator, continuing to stare at her from close proximity. Therefore she said she suspects that something was fishy with this incident.

Karkala town station police, who have registered a case, are looking into the complaint.
