Private hospitals should co-operate in tackling Covid situation: Udupi DC

Udupi, Dec 9: Deputy commissioner (DC) M Kurma Rao directed all government and private hospitals to get prepared and make necessary arrangements to face the Covid-19 situation in upcoming days in the district.

He was speaking to doctors of all the private hospitals at the office of District Health and Family Welfare department here on Thursday December 9.

He said, “In the last two waves of coronavirus, all private hospitals have responded well along with the government in providing treatment to the infected. Even in the upcoming days, private hospitals should come forward to provide good health service”.

He also said that private hospitals had provided treatment to 5,000 patients under Ayushman Bharat. The Health department officials should reimburse the treatment cost from the government on priority, he added.

He also said that private hospitals should keep ready sufficient oxygen cylinders and basic facilities to treat the patients.

The DC informed that in the district already 95% of people in the district have taken vaccination. Doctors should suggest the remaining 5% of the people to get vaccinated, he said.

He also directed the private hospitals to provide details of beds to the district administration.

Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Naveen Bhat also spoke.

District health officer Dr Nagabushan Udupa, Covid nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat, Dr Shriram Rao, and others were present in the meeting.
