Mangaluru: 38-year-old man assaulted at Neermarga, hospitalised

Mangaluru, Dec 10: A man was assaulted at Padu, Neermarga outskirts of the city here on Friday, December 10.

According to police sources, the man who was attacked is identified as Riaz Ahmad (38) from Adyar Padav.

Riaz, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver and runs land business, was attacked by 5 to 6 unknown persons at 9 pm in Neermarga Padu area.

Riaz, who was hit with a beer bottle, suffered head injury, but is out of danger as told by doctors. He was in a Ritz car when the incident took place. The vehicle was also damaged.

A case of 307 IPC has been filed in Mangaluru rural police station. Police source also informed that around 100 people gathered near the hospital where Riaz was admitted and around 200 people gathered near the spot of crime.

Mangaluru city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar rushed to the spot along with other personnel.
