Miscreant attacks church priest with sword in Belagavi, police launch probe

Bengaluru, Dec 12 (IANS): In a shocking incident, an unknown person attempted to attack a church priest with a sword in Belagavi district of Karnataka, said the police, which have launched an investigation to hunt down the miscreant.

Father Francis of Saint Joseph's 'The Worker Church' was attacked on Saturday evening and is said to be out of danger.

The police said the incident took place at the residence of the Father Francis, where the miscreant had been hiding.

The attacker tried to hit Father Fransis with his sword as soon as he (Father) came out of the house to check on a dog, which was barking continuously.

Father Francis managed to escape the attack and ran away from the spot. Though the attacker tried to chase, he ran away after seeing people rushing towards the Father, the police

The police have obtained the CCTV footage of the incident and also collected a statement from Father Francis.

Further investigation is on.

K .b.r Mangala uru,normally Priests house is not closed ,since most of the times people come for their needs ,wait in Portico .Door is simply to his room lehned or closed but not locked .Noone expects someone come like this to attack .There are always some make problems ,.Must be investigated.In future better keep a video camera to watch .He must have come to steal ?thinking priest is having money?Like the one who stole money from priests room?

Why the attacker didn’t enter the priest’s house to steal when the priest ran out of his house, instead the attacker chased the priest, Why?????….Here the intention is to kill the priest not steal. There is no dearth of people with or without any religion who are ready to do the job for money to the full satisfaction of the communal high command.
