Puttur, Dec 13: A video clip of a woman being attacked by a crowd, alleging that she was having an illicit relationship with a man, has become viral in the social media sites. A case in this connection has been registered in Uppinangady police station.

The complaint was filed by Abdul Rahiman, resident of Kavalakatte House in Bantwal taluk. He said that he was speaking to an acquaintance named Shahanaz near his shop dealing in scrap when his wife, Haseena, and driver Afrid, came there, accused the woman of having an unholy relationship with him, and attacked her with whatever they could lay their hands on.

In a case in which four bus workers from Mangaluru had questioned the obscene behaviour of a boy and a girl from different communities, the police had registered a suo motu case and arrested them. Many questioned the inaction of the police in this case in which a Muslim woman was inhuman thrashed by a crowd.

The clip shows three men and two women attacking the woman. However, the complainant has mentioned the names of only two persons. The police have since registered a case.
