Like marriages, religious conversions will also be registered: J C Madhuswamy

Tumakuru, Dec 13 (IANS): Karnataka Law Minister J.C. Madhuswamy on Monday said that the government has decided to bring anti-conversion law in the state in this session of the assembly. "We will discuss this in the assembly. As marriages are registered, religious conversions will also have a similar registration process," he said.

"I have sought time to work on the legal framework of the bill. I am thinking of implementing the law without causing harm to any community," he said.

Anti-Conversion law is already in place in the country. Forceful conversion or conversions through enducements are banned. The quantum of punishment is yet to be discussed. "We will also prepare the framework for voluntary religious conversions," he added.

Those who want to get converted will have to go through the procedure of submission of application. The district Commissioner will give consent after ascertaining that it is not a case of forceful conversion. Institutions and associations could also make submission for religious conversions under the law. Once converted, the individual will lose original caste, religion and other benefits associated with it, he explained.

Religious conversions will be recorded just like marriages are registered. The name of the individual who wants to be converted to another religion will be put up on the notice board. If no objections are filed, his request will be processed. If a Scheduled Caste person gets converted to Christianity, he will come under the minority category. However, if a person belonging to the Scheduled Tribe gets converted, he will continue to remain in the same category since they live in hilly areas, he explained.

I hope official registration of conversion will be a fair law. It will prove that one has converted voluntarily without any kind of compulsion. When there is provision for civil registration of marriages, why not conversion. Even in tolerant and moderate countries like Kuwait official certificates are issued to those who convert to Islam.

In my view legalizing religious conversion by registration is acceptable solution. No fanatic group can stop such conversions taking place with their own wish and will. But I don't know if rural and tribal folk can understand the process of registration. Mostly tribes and downtrodden people convert themselves most because of their social and financial problems.

There are good and not so good people in every religion with addictions to alcohal, drugs, pornography, social media, mobile... These addictions are attached with unsatisfied evil spirits, those bring fights, hatred, selfishness, divisions in the family. So real conversion for these not so good people slowly to become good, controlling their bad habits. Then it will be Ramarajya. Otherwise it gives rise to godless communistic atheism and chaos. (Then these communist chinese bring viruses to control population for better communist brainwash and control.) So all above slowly need to be controlled or regulated for peace and good of all people.

I feel guilty and ashamed of reading the statements of this guy in the photo. Hopefully he feels the same. We are in 2021 and still people are talking dictatorships than secular life styles. Look at many nations broken into pieces just because they used the similarity biases on thier own communities. today these elected leaders moving into similar direction to create unwanted stuff.Let people enjoy what they want and communicate with a god they desire. Finally there is one god but call him in different names.

J.C. Madhuswamy , you are not addressing your party workers here, you are addressing a large educated population of Karnataka. You say DC has to approve the conversion permission. Are you trying to fool us. Go back to school and study the law and constitution of India. Once a 18 year old girl and 21 year old boy write one page application on A4 paper to seek permission to convert on own will, forget the DC, even the president of India cannot stop the conversion.

I have no interest in getting converted into anything. But seriously though...if a person is serious about joining another religion, they can privately practice anything. They do not have to make a change to outward appearance. If the SC/ST stand to lose their benefits, they can hide conversion altogether and still follow any new religion they want.

India will never become a developed country as far these stupid evil mentality polotical people get a majority and rule the country. There are hundreds of questions that are there to solve like water, electricity, housing, proper sanitization, roads, education, and good health to all. Religion will never make anyone rich or poor. It is only individual person satisfaction. Hope our citizens and political party members learn to develop the country, not to destroy.

What kind of lafangus are these? How many more restrictions and rules are they going to dictate to this miniscule 2% minority? I am referring to Christians because they are the soft target for these politicians to show gullible, insecure 10% fake Hindus, that they are the protector of their faith as though Christians are going to rob them of their majority. They are shit scared of going closer to Muslims as they will take all possible weapons to hit them so hard that they will regret ever going closer to them. So, the target is Christians - the most educated and decent lot who will only protest in the most legal and clean manner. Why this 85% are terrified of 2% Christians? Can anyone elaborate?

Religion is a private matter between man and invisible, not responding God. Religion is a just faith and believing someones written story or partial history mixed with emotional story . People should have freedom to choose any religion or God whenever they want to satisfy psychological, spiritual, emotional and financial benefits. Indians being poor should convert to most profitable religion and enjoy life today (now). Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Why put the name of person who willingly wants to convert for any objection. It’s a personal and private matter of one’s right and nobody cares if anyone has any objection to it other than the authorities of his new faith who can decline his wish if the person doesn’t comply with thier rules and regulations.

What you will do with that data ? Create another sect/caste out of them ? Why don't you start from the beginning ? Start compiling data about Dravidian lot converted Vedic form of religious custom/rituals ? When you understand that you yourself are a convert, you'll forget about the baton you are swinging over the followers of your own deeds.
