Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 16,79,860 from Dubai-returnee

Mangaluru, Dec 14: Customs officials at the international airport in the city confiscated 338 grams of gold worth Rs 16,79,860 from a passenger who arrived from Sharjah to the city on Monday December 13.

The arrested person is a resident of Kasargod in Kerala. He arrived via Indigo flight.

The gold, in the form of yellowish coloured solid metallic rods, was concealed inside hollow portion of metallic jacks of stereo cables and inside incense stick burner stand, biscuit dough hand press machine and candle holder stands.

The accused was caught in a special operation carried out by the customs official of the airport.
