Strict action against those attacking police: Araga Jnanendra

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 15 (IANS): Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said on Wednesday that strict action will be initiated against those who attacked police personnel in Uppinangady in Dakshina Kannada district.

He also said on the floor of the Assembly that police would be given a free hand to deal with forces fomenting communal tension in the state.

The police had resorted to lathi charge on the night of December 14 to disperse activists of Popular Front of India (PFI), who tried to attack policemen demanding release of four accused persons who were taken into custody in connection with an assault case. The 300-member strong protesters had damaged police station property and attacked four policemen, forcing the police to clamp prohibitory orders in Uppinangadi.

Jnanendra said that police are initiating action against all such incidents irrespective of an individual's religion and the people must cooperate with the police force.

While answering a question raised by Congress MLA U.T. Khader on rising communal incidents and attacks on students, Jnanendra insisted that the incidents of communal violence have come down in the state.

"As many as 117 such incidents were reported in 2017, 26 in 2018, 7 in 2019, 4 in 2020 and five till date in 2021 in the state," he said.

Also take stringent action on those street rowdies and immoral police who attack citizens (couples) when found in the public parts, busses, in bikes, ice cream parlours etc. Being a Home minister you never raised any concern on such un lawful actions. All double standards in the name of Love jihad.

They come from the root of cowards.... Their ideology is of hatred and have been thought the same since their childhood, so they will follow it.... Almost 90% of Hindus are unable to read and write Sanskrit and even if they know they have not touched their Religious books such as Vedas. Had they read it, today they would have shun the Sanghi fake ideology and have followed their Religious book. I would love to see, making Sanskrit a compulsory language to learn so that it will be benefit people to understand vedas which has got many similarities when it comes to Oneness of God, shunning of Polytheism etc...

that law is always there mr. minister....but you tell the public what action you are taking on police officers who take advantage of victims who report to police station to file a case? especially females...it is known fact that they wont even spare prostitutes who are caught...in addition, the atrocities that are conducted on the arrested minorities are not counted at all....so there will be reaction for every action....so educate the police also not to take sides...DK is known for chaddi police when blue JP is in power..only when Congress is ruling their bolti is bandh..

What about police taking bribes, siding with the accused, being mute spectators to attack on helpless innocents, harassing poor people based on political influence, harassing minorities for little or no reason, not registering complaints from victims, allowing illegal activities in exchange for bribes and list is endless. Dear Mr HM - Please say something.

Free hand to Police?Thats exactly a wrong way .Police will make use of it ,and already making also. But citizens also are not cows ,not ready to accept what Police illegaly do.Why do they accept bribes ?why police take private numbers of girls and later send messages ,or ...?They too must be serious about their duty towards Nation, and and citizens. They dont register cases if any woman complain sof assault,or even attack who come to complains.Thats not their way to treat when one has problems.Instruct your Police personal to behave with women seriously and respectful.Important .

Strict action against those attacking police: Araga Jnanendra, could you please justify yourself what about your statement about Police. …..Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has hit out at a section of police, saying they allegedly take bribes from cattle smugglers and ''sleep like dogs'', letting them operate with impunity. "The entire police force is rotten today. We are giving salary but no one wants to live only on the salary. They want to live on the leftover (bribe)," he is heard saying............. Araga please understand the logic, politicians are elected by votes and get minitrial berth , if minister defeat in next election he will loose his position, but Police they selected by their qualification base, physical back ground, abilities, possess their position on their training qualities, they will be in service up to their retirement. Do you understand what I mean to say??????????????.Araga what about politicians, salary, allowance, travel allowance, site visit allowance, office refurbishment allowance, phone allowance, accommodation, facilities, are sure politicians not taking these facilities, corruption commission money, do you know who is paying for politicians, so far anybody questioned???????????. THINK BEFORE YOUR STATEMENT.
