Mangaluru, Dec 17: Popular Front of India (PFI) Dakshina Kannada district committee has alleged that relating to the Uppinangady protest incident, the police are concocting imaginary stories in order to cover up their blunders.
PFI state secretary A K Ashraf, and district president Ijaz, who addressed a press meet here on Thursday December 16, said that during the protest in front of Uppinangady police station on December 14, things like assault of police personnel, pelting of stones, conspiracy to start disturbances, damage to police jeep etc had never happened and hence false. He said that police inspector Prasanna Kumar, was present in front of the police station even after the caning of the crowd and that his hand had no injury marks then. They claimed that the allegations were made after widespread anger was expressed against the police personnel. They explained that charges were later added in the first information reports which were already registered.
