Beltangady: Youth undergoing depression leaves family members grievously injured

Beltangady, Dec 17: A person from Konkody in Kuvettu village in the taluk, who has been going through bouts of depression of late, attacked his mother and a brother, leaving them bleeding profusely.

The attacker has been identified as Cyril Pinto from Konkdoy, Kuvettu. On the night of December 14, he consumed some intoxicating substance and beat up his brother black and blue with a wooden stick, inflicting serious injuries in his head and the hands. The brother who was treated at a hospital in Guruvayanakere, returned home later.

On December 15, Cyril attacked his mother Felcy Monis, and his brother Henry Pinto, both of whom were sleeping, with a saber. Henry Pinto had suffered serious injuries in the previous day's attack. Both who were found lying in a pool of blood, were provided first aid in the government hospital at Beltangady before taking them to Mangaluru and admitting into the district Wenlock Hospital.

Another brother of the attacker, John Pinto, has filed a complaint in Beltangady police station about the incident.
