40-year-old biker from Mangaluru completes his first 2,000-km ride after having heart procedure

Mangaluru, Dec 18: Girish Shet looked intense on Friday December 17 morning, as he got his heart rate up after completing 'Reclaiming Myself Ride'. He zoomed on his two wheels from Mangaluru to Amby Valley (Maharashtra), for a stretch of 2,000 km to attend IBW 2021 (India Bike Week), alone.

During lockdown, in Februray 2021, Girish Shet, also who runs a YouTube channel (Weekend On Wheels), felt a bit of anxiety, pain in back area after a short walk. He mistook it to tiredness caused by walk. The tiredness and pain extended and he was immediately rushed to the doctor. Timely hospitalization saved his heart and today one can see him passionately riding his favourite wheels on the streets of the city.

The ride started on December 2 and culminated on December 8.

“This solo ride of 2,000 km was my mission to 'Reclaiming Myself Ride', to make me feel I am back to leading a normal life. Through this ride I also want to create awareness to people with heart disease that you can continue your passion after surgery by following a healthy lifestyle,” says Girish, who completed 2000 km of 'Reclaiming Myself Ride.
