Two Omicron infection cases reported in Udupi, one in Mangaluru

Udupi/Mangaluru, Dec 20: Two people are detected with Omicron variant of Covid in the district. Also, one case was reported from Mangaluru.

One is a woman aged 73 and another an 82-year-old man. These are the first cases reported in the third wave. Both patients have taken two doses of vaccination for coronavirus.

As Covid positive case was reported in the family of these women, all members were subjected to tests. Three out of the four members of the family are confirmed to have tested positive for Omicron.

The health department is trying to detect the primary contacts. Both patients did not have any symptoms of Covid.

A nursing college student from Mangaluru was also detected with Omicron virus. She is from same cluster detected on Saturday and is healthy, informed authorities.

In total, six Omicron cases are confirmed in the state including Udupi, Bhadravathi, Dharwad and Mangaluru. The total cases in Karnataka has risen to 20 with these fresh cases.

    How come this is first case of omicron in Mangaluru. Few days before it was said, first case reported from a passenger who came from Ghana....Then five cases reported from educational institutions from Mangaluru. Now, again they say this is the first case. Health department should give precise statement and up-to-date information..Dont confuse the public..

    Yes sir... i too guessed so... They should give proper up to date reports.. not controversial...Ghana visitor first detected person...then college students ..now this....All first then...who is second ? Third ?.

    Official confirmation of what we knew, omicron is in the community. Not surprisingly as most countries worldwide have the variant now.
