Mangaluru: Stung by giant honeybees, eight people suffer injuries

Mangaluru, Dec 21: After a swarm of giant honeybees from a beehive that had taken shape on a residential complex on the main road at Moorukaveri near Kinnigoli got agitated and went on a stringing spree of two-wheeler riders and pedestrians, eight persons suffered injuries and got admitted into a hospital at Kinnigoli. The incident happened on Monday December 20.

The bees went on a rampage when the staff of Canara Lighting were moving in their motorbikes. Ravi from Golijora Neeralike, and Sooryakanth, teacher of the Rotary School at Morukaveri, who suffered severe injuries, were admitted into the intensive care units of the hospital. The others who were admitted into the hospital are Richard Nazareth Moorukaveri, Riviyan Moorukaveri, Sharat Poojary Maradka, Albert D'Souza and Manohar Muchoor. They were provided with first aid.

Kinnigoli town panchayat chief officer Sayeesh Chowta, forest officer Nageshi Billava, staff Raju L J and Santosh visited the spot of the incident and also the hospital.

    OH,big honey Bee nest..Very dangerous to go under their Nest might get allergic reaction if bite gets.Can only some experts with full cover and fire in hand can approach their nest .Make some fire under their nest when less people move ,keep a honey gudu near by so that as soon as Queen is being transfered there bees will fly there.It will be a adventurous function to remove that .Wish all the best for who seek honey.Fire fighters must be knowing some tricks in this.

    Hope utmost care taken of victims - as sometimes allergic reactions - can lead to extreme situations - already there was a case of death who was discharged few months back -- who developed @ night complications - safer to spend a day or two in hospital and not assume recovery even if feeling ok----

    Before 2014, Queen Bee used to come and Question Ok? Shall I bite you?? If You said.... No No no nono.... Then gheeeeeeen gheeeeeeen it would make sound and fly off... Ok?? Now only after 2014 directly coming and biting honey bees. Same way, flat tyre, rape, suicide, and all never happening before 2014.Now ' Rapakka " everything happening. Before 2014, robbers used to come and ask.. Shall I rob your place? If you said yes only... robbing.. Otherwise No !You know what now? Special latest?? Even for unwanted pregnancy, present regime is responsible according to some! Got my point?? Sea change in their seeing you see !!

    In our College days also we had to encounter ' ಹೆಜ್ಜೇನು ರಾಣಿ ', Queen Bee and other Honey Bees.... Many of us, were bit before they could bite and all that stuff... Nowadays Honey Bees and Baas are of different types. You hear about ' Honey Traps ' often?? What this Trap means?? Bee sitting with NET aa?? To catch... What all happens nowadays !!
