Mangaluru, Dec 21: The preparations for Daijiworld TV’s mega stage show of Konkani programmes, ‘Konkani Sambhram-2’, are in full swing. The event will take place at St Agnes College Centenary Auditorium here on January 9 at 4 pm.
The show is mainly dedicated to present awards to winners of popular Konkani reality shows, ‘Daijiworld Duet Singing Stars', ‘MTG Gulf Edition' and ‘Phone In Sangeeta Taare'.
Two brand new singing reality shows, a comedy show and the second season of popular Konkani TV series ‘Mrs Meena and Family’ will also be launched during the event which will be aired on Daijiworld TV from March onwards.
It may be recalled that, while launching the TV channel back in June 2014, only limited Konkani programmes were available. 'Amchi Mathi Amchi Munsha' by Leslie Rego was the first introductory programme, followed by the Soad 4 reality show hosted by Mandd Sobhann.
After February 2015, Konkani programmes dominated prime time in TV channels. Music, serials, live panel discussion, dance, live singing and live quiz shows not only attracted people to the TV sets around three districts of coastal cities, but also attracted huge international audiences through TV app, YouTube and Facebook live streams.
The tremendous response received for Konkani events, and game-changing reality shows like MTG, Duet Singing Stars, Hello Father, Gayan ani Gazali, Don Ghadi Khushen Kadi, Thodi Khushi Thodyo Dhoshi, Santalagi Sanvad, and Ami Dogi Sezara have changed the prospects of Konkani television programme through unprecedented response and popularity from Konkani loving people all over the globe.
Not only Konkani events, but Tulu comedy shows, Kannada news, music and other programmes also captured the audience from all walks of life irrespective of caste, creed and language.
‘Konkani Sambhram-2’ will be packed with the performances from the artistes of various reality shows and guest artistes with enthralling music and comedy. Great personalities from the Konkani world will grace the show.
Duet Singing Stars
‘Duet Singing Stars' is Konkani world's first-of-its-kind singing reality contest, for duet singing. The show, which contains Konkani songs rendered by couples, received tremendous appreciation and became an instant hit in the Konkani world.
In this talent hunt, aspiring singing couples above the age of 15 could sing Konkani compositions. Aired on Daijiworld 24x7 channel every Friday at 9 pm, the show garnered excellent reviews. The show was hosted by Komal Jenifer D’Souza, well known as compere and VJ. Sangeeth Visharadh Roshan Martis, music director Joel Rebello and coastal Karnataka’s known singer Jyostna Fernandes are the jury members of the show.
Before even winning the title, the contestants have already registered their names in the Konkani music world. Various music directors and composers have spotted their voices and many earned multiple chance to sing for various musical projects.
The winner will be honoured with 'Duet Singing Star' title and cash award at ‘Konkani Sambhram-2‘.
Mhozo Tallo Gaitalo-Gulf Edition
‘Mhojo Tallo Gaitalo’, in short MTG, the city's first-of-its-kind singing reality contest, is dedicated to Konkani’s legendary singer and composer late Wilfy Rebimbus which was held in 2018. The entire show was based on the compositions of Wilfy, and has received tremendous appreciation in the Konkani world. After the success of this show Daijiworld TV came up with an exclusive singing reality show for the NRIs especially those residing in Gulf countries. In this talent hunt, aspiring singers above the age of 15 and residents in gulf countries could sing the compositions of Wilfy. Aired on Daijiworld 24x7 channel every Friday at 9 pm, the show earned excellent reviews. The show was hosted by Babita Pinto, well known singer and VJ.
