Dec 21: Dakshina Kannada reports 9 corona cases; Udupi records 1 infection

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 21: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, December 21, reported 9 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 1 case.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 23,84,294 samples have been tested so far, out of which 22,68,079 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,215 out of which 164 are currently active.

As many as 13 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,699.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,10,13,570 as fine in 91,193 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,36,412 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 1 new case was reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,986 out of which 24 are currently active.

A total of 2 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday. Coronavirus has claimed 478 lives in the district so far.

So far 9,53,862 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 7,99,391 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
