Dec 22: Dakshina Kannada reports 20 corona cases, one death; Udupi records 5 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 22: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, December 22, reported 20 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 5 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,235 out of which 165 are currently active.

As many as 18 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,700.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,10,13,570 as fine in 91,193 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,37,957 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 5 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,991 out of which 26 are currently active.

A total of 3 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. Coronavirus has claimed 478 lives in the district so far.

So far 9,54,592 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,03,937 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.

    Lancet is now saying that Covishield effect wears off 4 months after second dose, hence booster dose is urgently required for many people in India. But supreme leader is busy announcing packages and campaigning in UP. We deserve such leaders.
