Mangaluru: Enticed by part time job offer, man loses Rs 1.34 lac

Mangaluru, Dec 23: A person had filed a case in the cyber crime, economic offices and narcotics police station here, claiming that he was tricked into remitting Rs 1.34 lac through a link named Flipkart Recruitment Part Time Job.

The complainant had received a WhatsApp link asking him to open it for a part time job. He opened the link and got himself registered after which a sum of Rs 100 was transferred in that account. He then received a message claiming that by paying Rs 200 by PhonePe, he can get to know how to make money through PhonePe recharges. He remitted Rs 200 as advised.

Upon completing the task given to him, a sum of Rs 350 was credited to his Flipkart account. He then was told to recharge Rs 500 so that he can get further sums. Thereafter, in stages, a sum of Rs 1,34,554 was transferred towards the completion of tasks. He then got information that Rs 4,13,992 had been credited to his Flipkart account and that to withdraw this sum, he has to pay tax amount of Rs 82,798. He then realized that he was misled. Thereafter he approached the police.

The police have begun investigation into the complaint.
