Bommai regime pushes through anti-conversion bill, gets it passed in Assembly

Bengaluru, Dec 23: Making full use of its majority in the State Legislative Assembly, the Basavaraj Bommai regime managed to push through its controversial Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill in the lower house during the Belagavi session on Thursday.

The opposition Congress party stoutly opposed the bill, when it was taken up for consideration in the Assembly and staged a dharna demanding withdrawal of the bill by contending that it was unconstitutional and aimed at furthering the political agenda of the ruling BJP.

The Congress party termed the Bill as draconian and anti-human and also alleged that it had been brought to target a particular community.

The Assembly Speaker Vishweshara Hegde Kageri took up the bill for consideration and voting and declared it passed through voice vote despite the stiff opposition from the Congress party members, who sat on a dharna and shouted slogans against the State Government.

The bill, however, may not pass muster in the Upper House during the current legislature session as the ruling BJP does not have a majority in the Legislative Council and could take it up during the forthcoming budget session of the State Legislature, which is likely to be held in February.

Dear R. D. B. Udupi sir. By your comment one can understand that you are spreading / are willing to spread the messages of Jesus in legal way. Carry on... It is a good attitude. Rules will be threats only for those who are involved in illegal activities. So, we need not bother about rules.

If your non-Christian neighbor or even colleague ( apart from blood relations ) accuse you and complain to the police you "enticed" them or did "Prachodane" by offering any small thing ( a gift or a book) ,police can arrest you and rest of your life you will go jail court lawyer and many priest, nuns pastors will go to jail for false allegations...its a non-bailable offence....This gives sanghi elements immense sadist pleasure and they rejoice others sufferings....

Congratulations to BJP for garnering headlines in the New York Times. "Arrests, Beatings and Secret Prayers: Inside the Persecution of India’s Christians" "Anti-Christian vigilantes are sweeping through villages, storming churches, burning Christian literature, attacking schools and assaulting worshipers. In many cases, the police and members of India’s governing party are helping them, government documents and dozens of interviews revealed. In church after church, the very act of worship has become dangerous despite constitutional protections for freedom of religion. To many Hindu extremists, the attacks are justified — a means of preventing religious conversions. To them, the possibility that some Indians, even a relatively small number, would reject Hinduism for Christianity is a threat to their dream of turning India into a pure Hindu nation. Many Christians have become so frightened that they try to pass as Hindu to protect themselves."

US Congress unanimously passed a bill today imposing sanctions against China for over Beijing's treatment of the nation's Uyghur minority. I hope it will not happen to India.

As Bomma does not have a majority in the Council, would like to see how many of the other parties stand up and be counted to secure the passage of the Bill. Holding off comments until then to see if Congress stands up and other parties support it to defeat the bill.

I have been studying Hinduism for the past several years. But now I require to put an application to be put on govt notice board. I am now hesitant to go through the procedure .I have an opportunity to claim a compensation from my clos friends for forcible/coercive influence on me even though they are innocent. This law will provide a golden opportunity to send well wishers behind bars for several years. WOW!!!. Hail Bommai Government .

Please state the parish priest and the the parish you belong to only then we can believe your fake sad story. Better even if you could disclose your god parents too only then your fake story will become genuine story. If you could narrate your sad story here you could have converted to many religions long time ago legally.
