Mangaluru/Udupi,Dec 23: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, December 23 reported 12 new coronavirus cases. The case positivity rate for the district stands at 0.18%.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 23,97,835 samples have been tested so far, out of which 22,81,588 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,247 out of which 160 are currently active.

As many as 17 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 114387.

The death in the district on Thursday is nil. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,700.

The district administration has collected Rs 1,10,20,770 in fines for 91,265 mask violations.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,41,917 samples have been tested for the second wave of coronavirus.

As many as 4 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 76,995 out of which 28 are currently active.

A total of 2 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,489 for the second wave.

The second wave of coronavirus has claimed 288 lives in the district.
