Hassan: Kumaraswamy demands ban on MES, says bandh will not make difference

Daijiworld Media Network – Hassan (MS)

Hassan, Dec 26: Ahead of the Karnataka bandh called by pro-Kannada organisations to demand a ban on Maharashtra Ekikarana Samiti (MES) following the desecration of Sangolli Rayanna's statue in Belagavi, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday December 26 urged the state government to impose legal ban on MES.

Speaking to media at Channapatna in the district, the former chief minister said, "MES which created ruckus in Belagavi recently should be banned under the provisions of law.

"Call for Karnataka bandh has been given by pro-Kannada organisations on December 31. What is the use of bandh? Maharashtra will not face any issues due to this bandh. On the contrary, people of Karnataka will suffer.

"Taking stringent action against the miscreants of MES is the responsibility of the ruling BJP government. Bandh will cause difficulty to our own people. We should think of small time vendors and daily wage labourers. Those who have called for bandh should think of these people.

"The protesters should pressure the government to eradicate anti-Kannada people. Let the government think on this and make a decision," he said.

“Nikhil, president of Yuva Janata Dal has also given a statement against holding the bandh on December 31. Let the protesters think over this once again," he urged.

Kaanada Raja Pandaricha......this whole issue of Marathi and Kannada divide is senseless in this internet age. State boundary is nothing more than administrative. Shiv Sena has very few agenda that they can sell outside Mumbai. Belgaum issue is one of them. Ignore them and this issue will die off. If Belgaum wants to be part of Maharasthra, please let them join. Shiv Sena may get 2 more seats to their 30 plus seats and probably the party will die because now they will be agenda-less. Boundaries have been redrawn for centuries and this boundary the vision-less politicians are fighting can also be redrawn. I speak both Kannada and Marathi. Both are built on the basha-shastra of Sanskrit and there is no difference. You learn both languages and you would be a better person gaining from literature of both the cultures. I am sure same is true with Telugu and Tamil. Aanda tulu ta laka wa bashela ijji....paterodu tedilla aakoli, kusal gobboli...materegla mariyadila koroli.
