Dec 26: Dakshina Kannada's corona tally rises by 9, Udupi reports three new cases

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 26: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday December 26 reported nine new cases while Udupi reported only three new cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 24,15,358 samples have been tested so far, out of which 22,99,071 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,287, out of which 152 are currently active.

A total of 18 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,14,435.

The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,700, out of which five are non-Covid deaths. No death was reported on Sunday.

The positivity rate in the district stands at 0.18%.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,10,37,470 as fine in 91,432 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,52,897 samples have been tested so far.

Only three new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 77,025, out of which 46 are currently active.

Three patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,500.

The three new patients are in home isolation, and all three are symptomatic.

Udupi city reported two cases while Karkala reported one.

Coronavirus has claimed 479 lives in the district so far. No death was reported on Sunday.

So far, 9,55,852 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,10,733 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, and all have recovered.
