Mysuru, Jan 6: In an utterly aweful case, a lawyer married double the number of women in just one and half years! Three weddings to be precise and the motive is not "unconditional" love but the same old entrapment,  money!

C V Sunil Kumar, a resident of Chandagalu village of K R Nagara taluk of the district is the one accused of polygamy among other cases. Astonishingly, the lawbreaker is a lawyer himself by profession. What's even more surprising is that his three wives didn't know they were just one among the other two. This  man with a dubious distinction had managed to dupe all three women into believing he was exclusive to them.

Sunil first got acquainted with a woman of Sagar taluk in Shivamogga on a matrimonial site and trapped her into a wedlock at K R Nagar. He obtained a fake marriage certificate and started living with her also. Soon Sunil started torturing the woman. When she approached Odanadi, an NGO in city for help, they reconciled the couple and got them married in a simple ceremony on June 18, 2020.

However, Sunil Kumar took Rs 5 lac from his first wife and started pestering her to allow him to marry a second time. This time, she lodged a complaint in this regard with the K R Nagar police on November 10, 2020. Sunil applied for an anticipatory bail but was rejected and was lodged in prison for a month.

When the case was still in court, Sunil managed to marry a woman of Bamboo Bazaar of Mysuru at a famous temple inK R Nagar in July 2021. One fine day, when the second wife was cleaning the house, she bumped into a document, which happened to be Sunil's marriage certificate with his first wife. The second wife was baffled but a shrewd Sunil Kumar tried to encash on the situation and asked his second wife to give him Rs 6 lac on the pretext of convincing his first wife to withdraw the case against him. He tried to convince his second wife that he needed to do this to live with her alone.

However, the second who had already lost Rs 2.5 lac to him in dowry refused to shell out more money. When Sunil started harassing her, she left for her parents’ home.

However, an incorrigible Sunil managed to hush up these two marriages, got into a relationship with a woman from Bengaluru and also married her on December 2, 2021. The woman, who started living with Sunil at K R Nagar soon came to know that she was his third wife. But Sunil had already gained access to her ATM card and had withdrawn a good amount of money. A cheated third wife lodged a complaint with the town police on Sunday, January 2. The second wife who came to know of this, raised one more complaint against this fraudster.

Sunil Kumar is absconding at present and the police have launched a manhunt for him.
