Udupi: Pejavar Seer Calls Youth to Revolutionize Society Against Corruption

Udupi, Dec 11: There is no democracy without election, while no elections without corruption, observed pejavar seer Vishweshareetha Swamiji and called on students to arise and awake to remove corruption through revolution.
He was delivering a lecture at the Poornaprajna College here on Saturday December 11 as part of Viraat Abhivandana programme being held in the temple town for the last three days. Only youth can bring in change in the society through following the path of truth and sincere duty, he said.
Seer urged the youth to keep away from drugs and also uphold culture. Don't run behind western culture, but imbibe patriotism, was the call by the seer to the students. He recalled that earlier too the social reforms were brought about by the collective efforts of the students. He felt the need to develop organizational spirit among the student community for the change in the present society, which is low on values.
Seer's Outlook on Social Issues
He felt that the government needs to control the powers the visual media holds for they are responsible for degeneration of values in the youth and called on schools to stress on value education. He further questioned on the need of reservations.
Stating that there are both good and bad saints, he called on people to choose the guidance of right saints to form a good society. He also observed that the problem of naxalism is both due to naxals and the society. He was concerned that the naxal problems should not be allowed to grow.
Speaking about his visits to dalit colonies, he said that dalits were happy on his visit to their colonies in contradiction to reports that they are unhappy. It is some vested interests who are behind the rumours and the opposition is not valid, he said. However, seer said that he could not answer in a line why one should believe god. It needs a lot of time as lot of explanation needs to be given, he said.
It is not reservation, but education to the poor is the answer to disparity in poor and rich, he said and felt that there was a need to create more awareness among youth on the power of education and its effect on the formation of positive society.
Poornaprajna Pre-university principal Venugopal Mulleria and Abhivandana Committeee general secretary Raghvendra Acharya among others were present.
Pejavar seer also visited Ajjarkad District Hospital and also gave a helping hand to five town municipality backward caste pourakarmikas, to patients who he attends to every Saturday and also felicitated freedom fighters Lakshminarayana Sharma and U B Ram Rao.
