Mangalore: Devotees at Cordel Church, Kulshekar Remember 'Frad Saib'

Mangalore, Dec 12: Fr Alexander Dubois, a French friar, also known as ‘Frad Saib’ and ‘Kullerda Ajjer’, was remembered at Cordel Church, Kulshekar on Saturday December 11 to mark 133rd death anniversary.
The holy eucharistic mass held on the occasion had Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, performing the holy mass with the presence of other priests.
Fr Steven of Balayesu Church, Fr John Gomes of Shaktinagar, assistant priest of Vamanjoor Church, Fr Jesudas D’Costa, Bondel Church, assistant priest Fr Ronald Pinto, Fr George D’Souza Kodialbail, Kulshekar church assistant priests Fr Roshan Fr Arun, and Fr Jos Baptist were present.
Kulshekar Church chief priest Fr Valerian Pinto felicitated donor Melvyn Rego and delivered the vote of thanks.
A grand procession of ‘Parama Prasada’ was carried out from church to Kalpane on the occasion.
Large number of parishioners including several priests and nuns from across the city and suburbs attended the occasion and were blessed by ‘Frad Saib’s’ miraculous powers.
Frad Saib, a devout catholic priest inspired several people in and around the city to embrace Christianity owing to his personal charisma. His mausoleum, located at a significant place around the church complex is flocked by people of all faiths, and a few take pinches of soil from his grave out of a belief that it has miraculous powers to heal.
The locals have legendary tales on ‘Frad Saib’ who used to visit their household in the evenings, in order to recite family rosary. Moreover, he has spread the special devotion to ‘sacred heart of Jesus’ among the natives.
