Mangalore: Father Deserts Handicapped Son at Bus Stand

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 14: A six-year-old boy named Ranjit, was deserted by his father, Eshwar from Haveri, at K S Rao Nagar bus stand in Mulky in the district, three days back.

The local people, who saw the boy spending days and nights at the said bus stand since the last three days, provided him food. Local leader, Manjunath, and Mulky town panchayat president, B M Asif, admitted the boy into the community hospital here.

The boy, who had suffered from polio, says that his father, who is a drunkard, had urged him to beg for supporting the family. He disclosed that he was abandoned by his father at the bus stand, as he refused to beg.  Manjunath said that the women and child development department, which was contacted for helping the boy, did not respond to his needs. Asif informed that the boy would be handed over to the Observation Home in Mangalore with help from Mulky policemen on Tuesday December 14.
