Jan 21: Dakshina Kannada reports 897 Covid cases, 1,018 in Udupi; five deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 21: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, January 21, reported 897 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 1,018 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,26,159 out of which 5,900 are currently active.

As many as 794 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,716. Out of which 1 death was reported on Friday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,13,62,630 as fine in 93,910 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 1,018 new cases were reported on Friday. The total active Covid cases has risen to 5,825. A total of 281 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday. Four deaths were reported on Friday.

Udupi taluk reported 439 cases, Kundapura 333 and 245 cases in Karkala. One case was from out of the district.

A total of 10,10,331 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,45,202 have received both doses.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
